Obituary for Ms. Oriana Raisa N’Chelle Ashanti’ Starr Oriana Starr

to
December 17, 2020

While the world gazed at the heavens anticipating “The Bethlehem Star” for the first time in 400 years, another Starr who shone just as brightly in her loved ones’ eyes was tragically taken from this life, joining the heavens far too soon.

Oriana Raisa N’Chelle Ashanti’ Starr, 22, Independence, Mo., died December 16, 2020. She was born January 19, 1998, in St. Paul, Minn., to Crystal Graves and Roland Starr. The baby of her family and a true daddy’s girl, she grew up in Kansas City, graduating from Ruskin High School in 2016. Oriana was a firecracker with attitude to spare, and her megawatt smile could light up a room. Described as “an old soul,” she adored her many nieces and nephews and felt great compassion for homeless people.

Left to mourn her passing are her parents, both of Independence; seven siblings and their families, including Ijris Graves, St. Joseph, Mo., Glen Graves, JeHanna Frederick, LaVonna Frederick and Dy’Shawn Starr, all of the Kansas City area, Colby Harkness, Dallas, Texas, and Porsche Brown, Seattle, Wash.; her maternal grandfather, Tommy Graves, Kansas City; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
