Reginald E. Byers, affectionately known as “Big Reggie and Black Cloud”, was born June 12, 1953 to Virginia L. (Byers) Taylor and Eugene Robinson.
Reggie was born in Kansas City, Kansas but raised in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Paseo and Southeast High School. At an early age, he and Vickie Crockett had his first-born child, Shawn Crockett. Later, he married the love of his life, Julie Cook in 1977. Children from this union are Damion Cook, Reginald Eugene Byers Jr and China Byers.
Reggie held several jobs over the years, he was a machinist, welder and a butcher. Growing up, Reggie had a huge love for his family, the Byers, Taylor and Cook families. He loved to read, watch sports and travel. Some of his favorite pastimes were hanging with all of his uncles, aunties and cousin’s playing cards and dominoes. Reggie grew up attending Metropolitan AME Zion Church as a child with his Grandmother Nevada Byers-Isom. One thing for sure, he lived life to the fullest each and every day. To know Reggie, was to love him. One of his favorite sayings was, “Long as I owe you, you’ll never be broke.” He was fun, loving and outgoing. Fashion was his thing and he always dressed to impress from head to toe and knew he was the best catch in the room. Reggie will be missed as the life of the party and someone you could count on. Reggie loved his all of his children, Shawn, Damion, Reggie Jr. and China and his grandchildren very much. Because he talked about them often. We all loved him unconditionally.

Reggie was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Crockett, mother Virginia L. (Byers) Taylor, grandmother Nevada Byers-Isom, uncles Claudis Byers and Earnest Clark, grandson Davyon Coates, and in-laws Jack and Angie Cook.

He leaves to cherish his memories, step-father, William Taylor Sr., sons Reginald E.
