Cortez Andrew Riley 14, passed April 18,2019 Cortez and his twin sister, Courtney Elizabeth Riley, were born April 11, 2005 to Terryl “Terry” Riley and Angelique “Angel” Allen at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Cortez has joined his maternal Grandmother, Lynda Sexton Allen, his maternal greatgrandmother, Mabel Sexton, his maternal great-grandfather, Lawrence Sexton, his paternal great-grandparents Henry and Sadie Allen, his great-aunt, Zina Sexton Rice and his uncles, Theodore Allen, Larry Jefferson, Adrian Caldwell and Aderyl Caldwell who all welcomed him home in glory. Cortez was in the 8th grade at Central Middle School in Kansas City, MO where he was friend to many who truly loved his playful and happy ways. He was always upbeat and he had a smile that would always make everyone he met feel special. His best friend was his twin sister, Courtney. He and Courtney had the unique tie that binds twins. While he was the outspoken of the two, she was his balance always supporting his exuberance. Cortez was the oldest, born 2 minutes ahead of Courtney, and he loved being the “Big Brother” undaunted when Courtney surpassed him by several inches in height. Cortez loved to play basketball and his prize possession was his PS 4 video gaming system. He could spend hours doing what he loved. He had a connoisseur’s taste for different foods but shrimp cooked any way you could imagine was his absolute favorite. He also had “skills” in the kitchen so he didn’t really need to wait for anyone to prepare food for him. Cortez was a baptized member of St. James United Methodist Church. He along with his sister were actively involved in the Youth Confirmation Class as well as the weekly youth fellowship which they enjoyed immensely. Cortez’s memory will be forever cherished by his mother, Angelique Allen; his twin sister, Courtney Riley; his father Terryl Riley, his maternal grandfather, Andrew K. Allen, Sr., his paternal grandparents, Lynda (Walter) Grigsby, Josie and Larry McLamb all of Kansas City, MO; great-aunt, Elma Warrick of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Jazmyne Riley Dickinson of Kansas City, KS, Kendall Manning of Dallas, TX, Tiera Riley, Myria Manning, Riyha Mott, and Tyler Riley all of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Terryl Riley, Jr. and Anthony Riley both of Lawrence, KS and Tevion Marshall of Kansas City, KS; aunts, Kelly (Monte) Jones of Kansas City, MO and a very special aunt, Danielle Allen of San Antonio, TX; uncles, Michael Sexton, Andrew “Kenny” Allen, Jr., Marcus Allen, Gary Riley, King Phillip Amman Reu-El, and Kevin Porter all of Kansas City, MO; his loving cousin, Jasmine Allen who stayed by his side throughout his final journey, cousin Jordan Allen whom Cortez idolized and cousin Jacob Burns all of Kansas City, MO; Godmother, Shantel Brown of Kansas City, MO and another very special “aunt”, LeCole (Brandon Horne) Williams of Gladstone, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.
