
Obituary for Robert Lee Burns, III aka Muhammad Al-Basir
Robert Lee Burns III (aka Bobby) was born January 12, 1974. He was the second child born to Robert Lee Burns, Jr. and Phyllis Marie Burns. Bobby's Sunset came upon him April 7, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri his father Robert Lee Burns, Jr. proceed him in transition. Bobby received his education in the Los Angeles School District. In the 1990's while attending DeLasalle in Kansas City, Bobby had the opportunity to participate in the Student Stock Exchange program. Through this program and his diligence alongside other students, he earned a financial dividend for the school that was invested in the implementation of an in school child daycare and the creation of accessibilities for the disabled students with wheelchairs. This compassion for others and lending a helping hand continued throughout his life. Bobby accepted Christ at an early age. he believed in GOD and prayer. He and his two siblings attended Swope Parkway Church of Christ and Metropolitan Church of Christ with their Aunt Darlene. In later years he continued his worship with other congregations. As a young teenager Bobby discovered he had multiple musical talents, that quickly became one of his passions. He could write some dope lyrics and spit them out into a foot stomping beat. He was rapping in a group that were composed of family and friends. They would preform around town and had the chance to get a little studio time in. It has been said that Bobby was proud of a tune he wrote that was featured on an episode of the sit-com "MOESHA." That musical talent continued and was never forgotten. However life took him in another direction. In 1998 Bobby met and fell in love with LaCheryl Powell, and they decided in 2003 it was time to say, "we do". There are four children of this union. Although the marriage was dissolved in 2016, they still maintained love and friendship for one another and succeeded in their co-parenting skills. Bobby was employed in various restaurants in his life, he loved to cook so, he became a self-taught Chef. He thrived to learn the secret of culinary arts. He often worked on events with E.L.Nora's catering. He oversaw the running of the kitchen and made sure the food came out of the kitchen correctly, and it did. This was only a step for him toward fulfilling his second career passion to creating his own style, taste and flair. So in 2020 Bobby's dream, his creation came true, he launched "BOBITO'S Catering. With a combination of herbs, spices and his imagination, he created impressive and extraordinary flavorful dishes. There are many people that experienced his wonderful food flare, will never forget them. Much love to you Bobby. He is survived by his mother Phyllis Marie Burns(Zainab) of Kansas City, MO; sons Jonathon I. Davis, Justus D. Al-Basir; daughters SaRah Z. Al-Basir, Samone Z. Al-Basir, Amari M Al-Basir; granddaughter Nylah J Fugua; sister Faatima(aka Ingrid); brother Khidar Al-Basir (aka Bishop); nephews Marlon McMillian(Lynda), Myron McMillian Jr.; cousin /Brother 23rd. Dist. Rep Michael Johnson(Yolanda); bonus brothers Jose Moore, Damon Johnson, special aunt Darlene Burns, ex-wife and friend LaCheryl Powell, MawMaw Elnora Powell(James), a host of nieces, nephews , cousins, family and many friends.
