Obituary for Deacon Herbert Cooper

Herbert Cooper

October 14, 1952
September 10, 2017

Deacon Herbert Earl Cooper departed this life September 10,
2017. He was born October 14, 1952 in Marshall, Missouri to
Ernest E. Cooper and Bertha B. Cooper. He was 1 of 2 children.
He graduated from Central High School and attended
Louisiana University. He was a devoted husband and father
who worked hard to provide for his family. He loved fishing
which was apparent by the giant grin that he would display
when he “made a catch”. He, and Martha often shared this
past time, enjoying nature’s peace and quiet. October 30,
1986, he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and
received the gift of the Holy Ghost October 23, 1987 at
Bibleway Pentecostal Church. It was here that he met and
married the love of his life and best friend Martha Faye Peaks
on March 21, 1987. Deacon Cooper served in various roles
under Apostle Rena M. Wilkins, president of the Deacon
Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and as choir director.
Being gifted in poetry he blessed many with his words, and
sometimes personalized poems that inspired them. His love
for young and old alike was shown by the sacrifices he made
providing transportation whether for work or for play. He, and
his late wife joined Gospel Tabernacle in Belton, MO under
the leadership of Brad Ratliff in 2009. He and Sis. Cooper were
a blessing this ministry that suddenly popped into their
lives…and just as suddenly left.
He leaves to mourn his son Joshua Peaks (Andrea Drone),
grand children Gabrielle La’Faye Peaks, (Jason and Dillan Bly).
His sister Johnalita Menscher, and a host of family, friends,
and spiritual brothers and sisters in Christ that loved him.
